BESA Statement on Systemic Racism

This statement is intended to express the commitment of the Biomedical Engineering Student Association (BESA) to combat systemic racism and lay out concrete steps we can take as individuals and as an organization.

Biomedical Engineering Student Association (BESA)

We are the graduate students in UC Davis Biomedical Engineering.

BESA represents the BME graduate students at UC Davis. Members of our group research anything from engineering new bone to developing new imaging techniques to understanding the forces exerted by single cells. As a group, we lead scientific outreach events, BME social gatherings, and annual BME events such as recruitment and the BMEGG Research Symposium.

VISION

The vision of BESA is to serve as a society of professionals devoted to developing and using engineering and technology to advance human health and well-being.

MISSION

Our mission is to build and support the biomedical engineering community with activities designed to communicate recent advances, discoveries, and inventions; promote educational and professional development; and integrate the perspectives of the academic, governmental, and business sectors.

We are also committed to doing our part to combat systemic racism and promote diversity. See our complete statement here.
